Dear Spiritual Traveler,
Sometimes we mistakenly believe that our financial freedom must come from something we can see or know. Often we experience fear or doubt if a source of supply is not in our everyday view.
The following story is a great reminder that God can get money to us in ways we would never dream. The following account is based on a true story. Years ago a student of mine sent me a newspaper article on this event.
A man from Sweden was on vacation in Spain. He was a devout Catholic who enjoyed spending much of his time visiting Spanish Cathedrals and praying to God.
One day, while visiting a Catholic Church, he noticed a body on view. No one was present for the viewing, but he saw a guest book requesting that anyone praying for the soul of the deceased to please sign their names. The visitor prayed compassionately for God's mercy on this man's soul.
As he was signing the guest book, he noticed that his name was the only signature. The lack of support and recognition for this dead man made him feel sad.
A month after returning to Sweden, this traveler received a call from the dead man's attorney. Apparently the deceased had been a very wealthy businessman who had no friends or family.
His will assigned all of his money to anyone who was willing to pray for his soul at the time of his viewing. The attorney informed him that he would soon be receiving several million dollars.
This story is a wonderful example of how simply following one's heart and doing what comes naturally can lead to unexpected gain and financial freedom. God is not limited to what we can see or feel. God can bless us in many different ways.
